At a glance
Metabolic Shift stores its journal, profile, and wellness records on your device and does not offer iCloud sync for those records. Apple Health access is optional and read-only. Internet AI can send the content you submit to your selected provider; voice input can use on-device speech recognition or your selected provider for transcription.
Who is responsible
Metabolic Shift is operated by DEEPAK VARMA UPPALAPATI, who determines how the app’s own features work. Contact vibewithapps@gmail.com for questions about those practices. Apple and any AI provider you choose handle information under their own policies for services they operate.
Mailing address: Unit 10, 105 Garafraxa St North, Durham, Ontario, N0G 1R0, Canada.
What information is used, and why
To provide your journal and insights, the app stores information you enter or save, such as your chosen nickname, age, height, weight, goals, health-focus selections, dietary and cuisine preferences, meal descriptions and saved entries, nutrition details, saved meals, and wellness check-ins. The nickname is only used to refer to you in the app; it need not be your real name. Photos and voice recordings you submit are used to analyze an entry; the resulting entry is saved when you choose to save it. Appearance, notification, and AI choices are also saved as app settings.
You decide what to enter. Some entries may be sensitive. The app uses them to show your history, calculate estimates and comparisons, and personalize the experience on your device.
If you email us, we receive the address and information you choose to send so we can respond. If you load these pages online or download catalog files, the host may receive ordinary connection information, such as an IP address, request time, and requested file.
Legal grounds where applicable
Where a law requires a legal basis for processing, requested journal features are generally provided as part of the service you ask us to deliver. Optional access to Apple Health, notifications, and internet AI depends on your choices and, where required, your consent. We may use support correspondence to answer your request and maintain limited records where needed for security, disputes, or legal duties. Health-related information may require an additional condition, such as explicit consent, under local law.
On-device storage
Journal, profile, and wellness records are stored in the app’s local database on your iPhone. Metabolic Shift disables CloudKit synchronization for that database, so those records do not automatically appear on another iPhone. The app asks iOS to exclude its local app-data directories from backup. Apple describes this exclusion setting as guidance, not a guarantee that the data will never appear in a device backup or restore.
Widgets and a paired Apple Watch may receive a limited snapshot of today’s nutrition totals, targets, and meal-card status. The snapshot is stored in the app group or sent to the paired watch; it is not a synced copy of the journal. If you record a meal on Apple Watch, its audio draft is transferred to the iPhone for transcription and entry review.
Personal AI API keys are stored separately in this device’s Keychain. The developer does not operate an account database for your journal or receive a copy of your local app records as part of ordinary app use.
Know where your data lives
Removing the app, resetting your device, or moving to another device may leave you without your local journal. The app does not provide cross-device journal sync or an independent backup. If you used a prerelease build with iCloud sync, older copies may remain under your Apple Account; this version does not access or erase them.
Apple Health stays under your control
If you grant permission, Metabolic Shift reads supported Apple Health data such as steps, active energy, exercise minutes, workouts, sleep, and body mass to show live context. These samples are read on your device. The app does not upload them to its own server, copy the raw samples into its journal database, or overwrite your manually entered profile values.
You can change Apple Health permissions in iOS Settings or the Health app. Apple controls the Health store and any iCloud handling of that store under your Apple settings.
When you use AI or voice input
On-device AI keeps the meal content used for that analysis on your device, subject to the availability of Apple’s on-device features. If you choose an internet AI provider, the app sends the meal text, photo, or audio needed for the feature to that provider using your configured API key. Testing a provider sends a small sample meal; checking available models also contacts that provider.
Meal requests may include your chosen country, cuisines, and dietary patterns as recognition hints. The app’s meal prompt does not intentionally include your name, body measurements, goals, or health-condition selections. Information you place in a meal description or image may still reveal personal details, so review it before submitting.
Internet provider options may include Groq, Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, or a custom compatible endpoint. Their processing, retention, pricing, and geographic handling are governed by their own current policies. OpenRouter may route a request to another model provider. Apple Speech recognition in this version requires on-device processing. If your selected internet provider supports speech transcription, iPhone voice input sends the recording to that provider; otherwise, provider-based voice input may be unavailable. Watch recordings are transferred to the paired iPhone for on-device transcription. A provider may retain audio it receives under its own policy. Check a provider’s policy before connecting it.
Catalogs, notifications, tips, and this page
- Food catalog: Searches use local catalog data. When an optional catalog download is configured, the app can request catalog files from its host; normal network requests may expose technical information such as an IP address to that host.
- Notifications: If you allow them, reminders are scheduled on your device. You can change permission in iOS Settings and reminder choices in the app.
- Tips: Optional developer tips are handled by Apple’s App Store purchase system. Apple processes the transaction under its own policies; tipping does not unlock app features.
- These pages: The HTML pages use no analytics script, advertising tracker, or cookies. A web host may still receive standard request information when you load them online.
Sharing and international processing
We do not sell personal information, use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use Apple Health data for advertising. Information can reach Apple when you enable its services, your selected AI or speech provider when you use that feature, a catalog or web host when your device requests its files, and us if you contact us directly. The app does not automatically send your journal to the developer.
Apple, providers, and hosts may process information in countries outside your own. Their locations and transfer protections vary by service and your configuration. Before enabling a third-party service, review its current privacy policy and, if relevant, its data-region settings. Where we are legally responsible for a restricted international transfer, an appropriate legal mechanism and safeguards must be in place; this policy alone does not create one.
We may disclose information we actually hold when required by applicable law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a lawful business change, subject to notice and protections required by law. We cannot disclose records that remain solely on your device.
How long information remains
Saved app records remain on your device until you edit or delete them, remove the app or its data, or iOS applies its own storage rules. A saved API key remains in device Keychain until you remove it or device and system storage rules remove it. The iPhone app removes temporary recording files after processing. Apple Watch recordings use temporary watch storage while queued for transfer; the app removes the source file when the transfer finishes or activation fails. If transfer cannot complete, watchOS may also clear temporary files under its own storage rules. A selected AI provider may retain requests it receives under its own policy.
Support email is kept as long as reasonably needed to answer your request, resolve follow-up issues, and meet applicable legal obligations. Web and catalog host logs follow the host’s configured retention settings. We do not control Apple’s or a selected provider’s independent retention periods.
Access, change, and remove data
You can review and edit your profile and app choices, delete individual app entries where the app offers deletion, remove a saved AI key in provider settings, and revoke device permissions through iOS Settings. The app does not offer iCloud synchronization. Contact us for privacy questions or requests concerning information you shared directly with us.
App records remain on this device until you change or delete them, remove the app or its data, or iOS applies its own storage rules. Removing the app does not erase data already processed by an AI provider or any iCloud copies created by a prerelease version. For provider-held data, use that provider’s controls or contact the provider. We cannot remotely erase Apple Health samples or legacy iCloud copies from your Apple Account.
Your rights may vary by location
Depending on the law that applies, you may be able to request access to information we hold about you, correction, deletion, a portable copy, restriction or objection to certain uses, withdrawal of consent, and information about disclosures or international transfers. Some laws also provide a right to appeal a decision on a privacy request or to complain to a privacy regulator. We will not penalize you for exercising a legal privacy right.
For residents of California and other US states with applicable privacy laws, these rights may include knowing the categories, sources, purposes, and recipients of personal information and requesting correction or deletion. We do not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is no sale or ad-sharing opt-out to exercise for this version of the app. If those practices change, we will update the notice and provide any required choice before they begin.
For people in the EEA or UK, applicable rights may also include data portability, objection, and lodging a complaint with your local data protection authority. We do not use your app data for solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects. For people in Canada, Brazil, Australia, Singapore, India, Japan, and other regions, applicable access, correction, withdrawal, complaint, and transfer rights will be honored as required by local law.
Email vibewithapps@gmail.com to make a request about information we actually hold. We may need enough information to verify that it is your request. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any lawful limitation or available appeal. For information stored only on your device, use the app and device controls; for legacy iCloud or third-party provider data, use the relevant Apple or provider controls. Withdrawing an optional permission stops future access through that permission, but does not by itself erase data already processed elsewhere.
For adults
The app’s current profile and nutrition references are designed for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly offer it to children. If you believe a child sent information directly to us, contact us so we can address it.
Security and policy updates
The app uses iOS storage protections, the device Keychain for personal API keys, and encrypted HTTPS connections for supported internet services. No system can guarantee absolute security. Avoid including passwords or other sensitive details in meal prompts or support email.
We may revise this policy as the app changes. The effective date above shows when this version began. Material changes to data practices should be reflected in this page and relevant in-app or store disclosures before they take effect.
